This year, the ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s César Chávez Cultural Center (CCCC) is hosting several different activities to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month and to reflect together what it means to proudly carry this heritage.

After advocacy from ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï students, Chris Bowers, who previously worked in Facilities Management at ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï, was hired as the newly created energy and sustainability manager.

Lyndsey Crum, assistant vice president for ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s Alumni Relations, recently received a highly competitive and prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to participate in an International Education Administrators Seminar in Germany.

Michael Nolting, a business major at ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï who just finished his freshman year, is sharing his dream with the world — and it’s no ordinary dream. It’s one that came to him more than four years ago in a deep sleep, involving an apocalyptic alien invasion that he never quite got out of his mind.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï is restoring a former staff position intended to further foster an environment where faculty and staff feel supported personally and professionally to develop an enriching experience for ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï students. This position – an ombudsperson – has not existed at the university for the last two decades-plus, until now, with the recent addition of Johnny Armijo to serve in this role.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï (ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï) is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacquie Rich Fredericks, Ed.D., J.D., as the university’s next vice president, general counsel and secretary to the Board of Trustees. Fredericks, who has worked for the Colorado Department of Law (DOL) for the past 11 years, will begin at ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï on Aug. 15.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï Board of Trustees moved through a lengthy agenda for its final meeting of fiscal year (FY) 22 on Friday, June 10, approving next year’s budget and receiving an update on the next phase of the university’s strategic plan, Rowing, Not Drifting 2030.

After two years of canceled or shortened seasons due to the pandemic, the ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s Summer Arts Season is back with several productions from the Little Theatre of the Rockiesand the return of the popular series of free outdoor musical performances, Concerts Under the Stars.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï (ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï) is pleased to announce the hiring of Jennifer Almquist, Ph.D., as the university’s next chief of staff. Almquist, who comes to ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï with nearly 20 years of experience in higher education, will begin in her new role on June 23.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s Board of Trustees Finance and Audit Committee met on Friday, May 6, to discuss the fiscal year (FY) 2021-22 third quarter (Q3) financial report, an enrollment update and the FY23 preliminary budget preview.
