ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s Blue & Gold Golf Tournament is a long-time favorite event that reaches back decades into the university’s history, giving alumni, friends, coaches and student-athletes a chance to get together for some friendly competition on the golf course while raising funds for scholarships for student-athletes.

Michael Nolting, a business major at ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï who just finished his freshman year, is sharing his dream with the world — and it’s no ordinary dream. It’s one that came to him more than four years ago in a deep sleep, involving an apocalyptic alien invasion that he never quite got out of his mind.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï is restoring a former staff position intended to further foster an environment where faculty and staff feel supported personally and professionally to develop an enriching experience for ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï students. This position – an ombudsperson – has not existed at the university for the last two decades-plus, until now, with the recent addition of Johnny Armijo to serve in this role.

On Friday, June 17, the streets in front of ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s Marcus Garvey Cultural Center were alive with celebration for the first-ever community-wide Juneteenth celebration.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï (ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï) is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacquie Rich Fredericks, Ed.D., J.D., as the university’s next vice president, general counsel and secretary to the Board of Trustees. Fredericks, who has worked for the Colorado Department of Law (DOL) for the past 11 years, will begin at ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï on Aug. 15.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s Marcus Garvey Cultural Center (MGCC), in collaboration with the City of Greeley and powered by PDC Energy, is hosting the first-ever community-wide Juneteenth celebration. The event, scheduled for Friday, June 17, noon to 4 p.m., at the MGCC (928 20th Street, Greeley), is free and open to the public.

The Greeley Stampede, which started in 1922, has always brought color and energy to the local community, so it’s fitting that as it celebrates 100 years, it does so with even more color greeting spectators. And two ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï alumni were chosen to paint the new murals.

The ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï Board of Trustees moved through a lengthy agenda for its final meeting of fiscal year (FY) 22 on Friday, June 10, approving next year’s budget and receiving an update on the next phase of the university’s strategic plan, Rowing, Not Drifting 2030.

Jennifer (McHugh) Taylor ’87 and Dan Taylor ’86, of Monument, Colo., recently established an endowment in hopes that others will be able to experience ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï and Bear life.

After two years of canceled or shortened seasons due to the pandemic, the ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï’s Summer Arts Season is back with several productions from the Little Theatre of the Rockiesand the return of the popular series of free outdoor musical performances, Concerts Under the Stars.
